Biography

He subscribed to Capel Bond’s Six Anthems in Score, 1769, where he is listed as ‘Mr. George Ensell, Glass Merchant, near Stourbridge’, and to John Pixell’s Odes, Cantatas, Songs &c, Divine, Moral, Entertaining, 1775, listed as ‘Mr. Ensell, Stourbridge’. A derivative of Henzell, family of Stourbridge. He could be the same as the glass manufacturer ‘German Sheet and Crown Glass. Honeyborne and Ensell’ Aris's Birmingham Gazette, 26 June 1780. Both George Ensell and Robert Honeybourne are listed as glass manufacturers in ‘Bailey's British Directory [for 1784]; or, Merchant's and Trader's Useful Companion for the year 1783, Volume 2 The Western Directory’.
