Biography

Son of Thomas Honeybourne of Birmingham, Joseph attended King Edward's School, Birmingham, where he was a contemporary of John Pixell, who would become vicar of Edgbaston and amateur composer. He attended Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1747 gaining his MA in 1753. He was therefore a contemporary of Sir Samuel. He was chaplain to Lord Bradford, vicar of Pattingham and of Pattinshall 1756, and from 1760 until his death, of Womborne and Trysull.
He may have been related to Stourbridge glass maker, Robert Honeybourne who owned the Audnam Glassworks.
