Biography

Sir Samuel and Edward Bearcroft knew each other at the London Inns (Bearcroft began legal studies at Inner Temple in 1754; Hellier took the bar in 1758).
Sir Samuel mentions Bearcroft in a letter of 28 July 1767: ‘Theres one of the Council Mr. Bearcroft can play charmingly if ye Gentleman Calls Tempt him to play & there is a Violin he can get at I hope if the Judges go by ┌ Monday or ┐ Tuesday the 10th or 11th august.’
