- Biography
- James Davidson was the gardener at the Woodhouse from at least 1748 (the date of the first surviving correspondence) to 1754. Barre identifies Davidson as coming from Ingestre, Lord Chetwynd’s Staffordshire estate. He may well have been responsible for the building of the Woodhouse Octagon which was erected April 1754 whilst his grandmother was looking after the estate.
